OAPF's meeting with CSN Support Services, Education Dept and Community Leisure Officer

OAPF Meeting - 01/05/19

There was a productive meeting on Wed 01/05/19 with John Vickers, Barry McGillivary and Scott Cameron to discuss various topics relating to the Old Academy Playing Fields.

There were several outstanding actions relating to recent communications, which jointly were resolved as follows during the meeting.

(a) The South gate to the OAPF's will remain open, and MYFC continue the partnership regarding maintaining the fields.

(b) It was agreed subject to planning permission that MYFC can locate another container in the OAPF's. I have discussed this with a member of the Mearns Community Council and they will assist MYFC with the application enabling a 50% discount.

(c) To enable the Council Landscape Services to carry out grass cutting in the fields and other letting clubs (Archery) to have complete usage of the space. The 7-a-side goals should be stored on the concrete pad when not in use. We can padlock and issue keys to our coaches as well as the Campus.

(d) The Car Parking is the major safety issue and requires a constructive push with both internal (MYFC members) and external (away teams) communication to ensure everyone uses the Mearns Campus car park. As we all have the kids welfare at the top of our priorities this requires across the club support.

On match days the club will use traffic cones to prevent cars from parking opposite the entry/access gate to the OAPF's. MYFC already have approval in writing from the Aberdeenshire Roads Dept. to deploy traffic cones and we already have road signs to direct vehicles to the Campus Car park and additional signs to warn about crossing the road.

The Mearns Campus carpark is controlled (one-way) with marked out parking and could also be used as a meeting point for the away teams prior to walking towards the OAPF and crossing the road opposite the gate, a excellent solution. The Mearns Campus toilets are available for use at this point for players, parents and supporters.

We are delighted to continue our partnership agreement and excellent support from all the Aberdeenshire Education dept., landscaping and other various council depts.
